It’s been an interesting month politically and socially in the news and in the neighborhood. Dear friends are talking of being unsure of their safety and their futures here in the United States under the current political party. I really care for these friends and their welfare. Laws are being changed to remove the civil rights of some people and I never thought I would hear this news in a free country that values human life and rights.

Some are loosing their jobs, this I can relate to first hand. I am a fan of the balanced budget at home and in government but realize there are circumstances that keep us spending. I do not want to see the suffering I have heard and seen for years when working in the mental health field with victims of trauma, large and small. My solution is to keep up the message of treating others the way I want to be treated with compassion, healing, and understanding.

This message comes to me through a Jewish Rabbi, you know the one, who I believe to be God stepping onto earth to teach us how to survive as poor, helpless, and as people who mistakenly think they are in control of anything. We are dependent on each other no matter how much we dislike thinking this to be true. We are connected to our neighbors, and need to start acting like we care. Debate is a good thing, listening is even better, I have learned over time, and taking time to be curious and learn new things is vital to our survival as a country. My Purpose is to love, serve, and show compassion. What is yours?

Retirement

How did I get here? One minute I was young in the 60’s and 70’s the next I’m retired and looking at life after work and paycheck and wondering which steps to take next. My friends say life is full of more choices now with time and reduced energy and some are much busier now with volunteer experiences, travel, and family time.

Here are some thoughts to share end expressions of one born into one generation and dealing with several more born afterwards. Thoughts about technology, faith, family, sometimes politics and choices. Just here to laugh, cry, and share ideas. Have fun.
