We just returned from a trip to see my first born Son and his first child. It was a challenging experience for all. When your firstborn tells you he thought we was going to lose his lovely lady and his child when he walked into the room where they were both not breathing after the delivery, you take a moment to process life again.

The whole two weeks were filled with meeting the in-laws, listening to challenging Frat house stories and helping to turn his house into a home for a young family moving past the party stage of life into parenthood. There were health challenges for Mom and this took more time than anyone wanted to admit. Beyond all the challenges was a healthy, beautiful baby boy needing love and attention.
I observed my own need to pray over all the challenges because guess what, no human was in control. The doctors were running test after test, bringing in the next I.V. for Mom and there were the moans of pain and people coming and going, medical and friends. The new daddy did not have his head in the game with distractions and duties but eventually came around to embracing the experience. Life happened and we all learned again to put our trust in a great big God who taught us again who is really in charge.
All is well, but rest is needed for the next challenge, raising a baby boy in this world. We have a new family member to love and cherish. I reflect on the ones who have passed on to the next life and hopefully see this new baby taking us into the future. It’s still March and a storm is rolling in. Both my parents passed away in March but now a new hope in the next generation. Life is never boring. At least not today.
